Progressive Campaign Oriented Living Historians

To Present and Preserve the History and Spirit of the United States Marine Corps and Navy of the Era of the War of 1812

The 1812 US Marines & Navy are a "Progressive" oriented group of dedicated living historians. We are dedicated to authentically portraying the common Marines and Sailors of the Federal Period and War of 1812. The 1812 US Marines & Navy readily accepts dedicated and like-minded members with an active interest in early American history and the War of 1812. We take part in Film Productions, Immersion Style Events, Living Histories, Battle Reenactments, and Parades.

Authenticity Standards

The 1812 US Marines & Navy maintain very high authenticity standards and are constantly undergoing research to improve their individual impressions and the impressions of the unit as a whole.

New Recruits are advised to consult a "veteran" member of the unit before purchasing any item of their kit.

The 1812 US Marines & Navy have many "in-house" makers of museum quality historic reproductions, and it is advised that members support these "in-house" sources as much as possible when purchasing or updating their kits.

The primary resource and supplier of the 1812 US Marines & Navy, is founder and member Mark Hilliard of Heart of Oak Historical Services (website coming soon - check back for updates!).
